The activities of the Animal Welfare Foundation of Canada cover a wide range of issues and species of animals (see program grants). AWFC grants and programs are administered by an all-volunteer Board of Directors, composed of veterinarians, animal welfare scientists and other professionals who have broad experience of animal welfare issues in Canada and in the evaluation of grant requests and project outcomes.
The Foundation does not receive funding from any level of government but relies on donations and bequests to carry out its animal welfare programs. Each year the AWFC receives many more grant applications than it is able to fund due to our limited funds. We encourage and appreciate your financial support, which will allow us to provide additional grants to deserving proposals, and continue to work effectively on behalf of animal welfare throughout Canada. Learn more about the impact of our grants on Canada’s humane movement and animal welfare sector.
