Courtney Graham

Courtney Graham joined the AWFC Board in April 2020 in the role of Board Secretary. She is currently a PhD candidate in Epidemiology and Animal Behaviour at the Ontario Veterinary College (University of Guelph).

Courtney completed her BSc in Geography at the University of Victoria and her MSc in Applied Animal Biology in the University of British Columbia’s Animal Welfare Program, where she investigated the social behaviour and welfare of laboratory zebrafish. Her PhD research is focused on kitten behaviour and welfare and the effects of socialization and early experiences on the development of fear and the human-animal bond.

At the University of Guelph, Courtney is also the Vice President of the Campbell Centre for the Study of Animal Welfare Student Chapter and a graduate student attendee for Animal Care Committee meetings and site visits through the Canadian Council on Animal Care.

Courtney has two cats, Mango and Sophie, who live with her in Guelph.
