Jamey Blair joined the AWFC board in April 2021. Jamey currently serves as the Operations Manager for Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society, recently overseeing the construction process and opening of their new animal shelter, North Haven. Prior to joining AARCS, Jamey held management roles for two of Canada’s largest animal welfare organizations as Branch Manager with the BC SPCA and Manager, Animal Health & Protection with the Edmonton Humane Society. The former allowed Jamey valuable insight into animal sheltering and welfare needs as they pertain to a small, remote communities, while the latter provided her an opportunity to not only oversee an enforcement department and the Society’s in-house medical clinic and staff, but also to serve a larger scale community of almost one million people and multiple surrounding municipalities.
Jamey also brings experience in both fundraising and communications from her previous roles in the nonprofit sector. Developing and maintaining positive donor relationships with key benefactors, creating engaging and heartwarming social media content, and experience in public relations with on-air interviews and written public statements are just a sample of skills within her portfolio.
Jamey’s professional commitment to animal welfare and sheltering spans almost a decade and she has been an active advocate for the humane treatment of animals throughout her lifetime. A key belief of Jamey’s is that we are all in this together when it comes to improving the lives of stray and homeless animals, and as such she has underscored the significance of building meaningful partnerships with other organizations throughout her career in order to collaborate to achieve matching goals with further resources.
Jamey realizes the value of the human-animal bond firsthand, as she shares her home with both a rescue dog and cat, Benson and Heifer, and frequently has an added visitor in the form of a foster animal joining them.
