Tunmise Faith Ehigbor

MSc, PhD Student

I grew up on a farm, which sparked my interest in observing and caring for animals. I am constantly thinking about improving the lives of animals; therefore, I studied animal physiology for my bachelor’s degree at the Federal University of Agriculture in Abeokuta, Nigeria, where I was named the top student in the department, graduating with a first-class degree in 2021. I hold a MSc degree in Animal Biosciences from the University of Guelph (2022 – 2024), and I am an alumnus of the Arrell Food Institute. Currently, I am a PhD student at the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, where I study how human social factors influence animal health and welfare.

I joined the AWFC’s Board of Directors in April 2023 as Secretary to the Board of Directors and a member of the Visioning Committee. Presently, I co-chair the Communications and Fundraising Committee. I enjoy working on improving animal welfare and productivity in an environmentally sustainable way. This ensures that animals and humans are happy and that the environment is safe and sustainable. I aspire to teach animal welfare and work with government agencies to develop animal welfare policies in the present and future. I also enjoy engaging with farmers in their communities and responding to their concerns. I enjoy grooming and playing with dogs in my spare time.
